Last night I tried a recipe that involved cooking turkey in a frying pan, placing said pan in the oven to bake, then removing pan and cooking again on the stove.  I gloved my hand for the removal from the oven, and left it on thinking, “this handle will be hot. I don’t want to burn myself.” But then I starting wondering if the turkey tenderloin was cooked all of the way through (aka I got distracted from the impending danger) and without thinking used my gloved hand to pick up the turkey with the tongs and steadied the pan by placing my non-gloved hand on the handle of the pan that had just sat in 450 degree temperature for 20 minutes.   Burns ensued.  ~AKH
