Can someone please explain to me why garbage cans are so expensive?!  To get a can that’s a decent size and won’t allow odors to permeate the kitchen, one has to drop approximately 200 bones.  I find it ludicrous that garbage can manufacturers actually expect people to pay that much for a receptacle that is going to hold the likes of rotten meat, baby poop, and greasy pizza boxes (and no, greasy pizza boxes are not recyclable).  ~AKH

Why can’t America round their prices like Europe seems to?  Nobody thinks they’re getting a deal if something is $19.99.  Just make it an even $20.  I don’t want to jingle.

In an effort to de-clutter the basement, I was throwing out a lot of my college papers.  Among them was a bag of all of the letters and cards I received while at school.  On March 17th, 2003 I received a card from my Grandmom.  It had a long note that closed with the line “I’m sending you some money to use as you please.”  Apparently, it pleased me to shove the money back into the card for safe keeping for 8 years.  At least today I’m $30 richer than I thought I was. ~AKH

I’m a firm believer in the fact that bacon is THE sign that God loves us, but now God is making us pay $5.00 per pound for his love?  Not cool.  Damn this economy.  Even the Almighty is upping his prices. ~AKH

Update:  As soon as I hit the “post” button on this diatribe, there was a thunderous clap in the sky.  God doesn’t like to be criticized.

Copper heiress Huguette Clark died on May 24th at the age of 104, leaving behind an estate worth $300 million.  Her last will and testament was filed today.  Other than a large sum of money to her nurse, attorney, and accountant, the majority of Huguette’s estate went to charity.  She did not give a dime to any of her living relatives.

“To my nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, I give the shaft.”
